Start:Svolvær, Norway
Finish:Tromsø, Norway
We are heading back to the land of legends - Norway! This time our route will pass through the Lofoten Islands.
Lofoten Islands are located in the harsh waters of the Norwegian Sea, beyond the Arctic Circle. This is a land of wild, unbridled nature, majestic mountains, deep fjords, noisy bird colonies and long sandy beaches.
Thanks to the warm Gulf Stream, the climate on Lofoten is much milder than in other places of the planet at the same latitude.
Lofoten Islands are known for their stunning nature and excellent fishing. They consist entirely of picturesque fishing villages and small harbors.
In a week we will sail between the islands, catch and cook the freshest fish or watch the eagles circling in the sky. And especially the brave ones will be able to try the harsh Norwegian surfing and diving - Lofoten is considered the northernmost place in the world for these sports. And take fishing rods! Unfortunately, we don’t get to the annual cod fishing championship, but we can compete with the crews of our boats!

Day 1 (August 2): Svolvaer
At 17.00 we meet in Svolvaer’s marina, check in on yachts, go through safety training, buy food, get to know each other and have dinner in a warm and cheerful company.
The yachts in Norway are equipped with Webasto-heaters and they completely cover the cockpit in case of icy wind.
The air temperature is very different, in one week it is possible to +5 and +30 degrees. So we take both swimwear and ski clothes with hats and gloves. If the ocean is raging, then there is always the opportunity to hide from the excitement in the fjords. The average daily air temperature is +15 - +22 degrees. Water temperature +10.
Day 2 (August 3): Svolvaer - Trolleford 22 miles (3.5 hours)
The trollfjord is located in the eastern part of the island of Eustvogya, northeast of Svolvaer. This is the most mysterious fjord in Norway, its width at the entrance is only 100 meters, and the height of the surrounding rocks is from 600 to 1000 meters. A very beautiful and majestic waterfall runs down the rocks. There we will get up at night at a picturesque pier. We will go up the trekking path to the alpine lake. There is no connection, complete silence and calm.
Day 3 (August 4): Trollfjord - Sortland 26 miles (4 hours)
Sortland is also known as the “Blue City” due to the fact that many of its houses are painted in blue and blue. The idea of a “blue city” came to the mind of local artist Bjørn Elvenes in 1998. Elvenes was educated in Poland at the Cracow Academy of Arts. At that time, Krakow seemed to him a gray and non-optimistic city. The artist thought it would be great to color any city to the delight of its residents and tourists. And where else to embody such an idea, if not at home, in a town in the north of Norway? Delicious fish for dinner and bright photos on a background of blue houses are provided to us!
Day 4 (August 5): Sortland - Harstadt 47 miles (8 hours)
We leave early, while the main part of the team is still resting. The polar day and short white nights will allow us to easily make an early transition. We will stop for breakfast in a beautiful place and continue our journey to Harstadt. We plan to arrive by afternoon tea. Harstadt is a culturally diverse small port city. From the top of the mountain offers fantastic views of the fjord. Harstadt's main attraction is the ancient Anna Rogde sailboat, built in 1868. On the central promenade of the city there is a statue of a walrus, whose gaze is turned towards the passing ships. Traditionally, everyone wants to hold his fang, but this, of course, remains at your discretion. On this island there is a large polar zoo and park Trolsenia. Located in the heart of Senja Island, this family-run park is an ideal stop for travelers. Despite the fact that this is one of the most popular family attractions in Northern Norway, it still does not leave a special charm. The secret is that this is not a big commercial grandiose project, but a small family business. The whole family of businessman and handyman Leif Rubach is engaged in staging shows, including making souvenirs and cooking delicious homemade food.
Thanks to the organizers of the park, there is a unique shop for special crafts. All guests of the island should definitely buy a troll mittens, it will certainly bring good luck. Tourists usually make a wish looking at the sunset, where against the background of blue mountains majestically dozing trolls tired for a day.
Day 5 (August 6): Harstadt - Engenes 16 miles (3 hours)
We spend the night and have a leisurely breakfast in Harstadt. If the weather permits - we can still walk around the city, and who did not have time in the evening - looked at the trolls in the park. By lunch, we’ll go to our next goal.
Day 6 (August 7): Engenes - Finsnes 33 miles (5 hours)
An unhurried day awaits us: sail, if the weather permits, we enjoy the scenery of Northern Norway, fishing and preparing freshly caught fish. Those interested can climb the cliff and meditate on breathtaking views.
Day 8 (August 9): At 9:00 we leave cozy yachts, take a selfie for memory and already begin to miss hospitable Norway, yachting and new friends.
