Ciao, Amiko! Coma wa? How about prolonging your summer and spending a romantic week in Italy? While the first September rains are drizzling in Moscow, True Wind team embarks on a journey along the Gulf of Naples to see for themselves the landscapes that inspired the great Aivazovsky.
It’s not news to anyone that our planet is almost 75% covered in water. So, we have truly unlimited possibilities for sea voyages! Not surprisingly, the popularity of yachting is gaining momentum every year. If you like to wake up every morning in a new place, if you are sure that a vacation without a sea is not a vacation, if you are open to vivid impressions and long for something surprising, then you have come to the right place!
If we talk about the fact that Italy is the birthplace of Baroque, it is equally important to note that the Gulf of Naples is a world of castles, of all stripes and calibers. The narrow strip of the coastline washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea, the bizarre pattern of the nearby islands, mountainous terrain, the measured breathing of an active volcano and countless antiquities. The traditionally mild Mediterranean climate provides comfortable weather for boat trips, especially in autumn and spring.
In addition to saving on travel, hotels, parking lots, sunbeds on the beaches and other annoying tourist expenses, we get a chance to moor to the most remote and inaccessible bays and the opportunity to enjoy amazing views from the side of our yacht every day. The legendary Vesuvius, the cliffs of Foraglioni, the Aragonese castle, the Egg castle and the New castle, the frantic rhythm of modern life in ancient cities ... Are you ready to believe in an Italian fairy tale with us? Then Asta La Vista!

Salerno.
Piacere di conoscerti! Which, translated into more familiar Russian, means “Nice to meet you!” Today we meet in Salerno, the sunniest Italian city. This large port city is located in the picturesque Gulf of Salerno on the west coast of Italy. Local residents catch tuna with hemp nets and cook it so deliciously that Italians come here from all over the country to have a delicious dinner. The city is surrounded by incredibly beautiful and majestic mountains. Today we have to undergo the necessary briefing, get to know our captains and the rest of the crew, get on a yacht and purchase food for our sea voyage.
Crossing Salerno - Positino.
We meet a leisurely Italian morning with a cup of coffee on a comfortable yacht - in the spirit of modern patricians. Today we have the first passage along the Gulf of Naples. We are heading for Positano! According to legend, the god of all the seas and oceans, Poseidon, fell in love with a nymph, as is customary with the gods. To express his sincere sympathy, he decided to present to her not a bouquet of white roses, or even a dried octopus, but an incredibly beautiful city, guarded by sirens. Since then, this local piece of paradise on earth has been named after the very nymph - Positano. Drop anchor and set off to admire the divine beauties of the island. A domani!
Transition Positino - Sorrento.
The third day of our trip, which means that we are waiting for another picturesque town of the Amalfi coast. In search of a solid and leisurely vacation, we go to Sorrento - one of the most romantic and prestigious resorts in the world. At the time, Byron, Dickens, Goethe, Wagner and many other cultural figures appreciated the special flavor of Sorrento. Perhaps this place is the best suited for independent travel. Having enjoyed the historical places, the healing sea air and the elegant luxury of the surrounding nature, those who wish can go to inspect the legendary Pompeii to see the ancient Temple of Apollo with their own eyes, walk along the “skeleton street”, visit the Forum and the archaeological excavation exhibition, which presents stone copies of those who have been killed for hundreds of years back of people.
Crossing Sorrento - Procida.
Today is the equator of our sea voyage, and we will celebrate this event by visiting another pearl of the Partenopean archipelago. Meet us, Procida! The name can be translated as “risen from the waters”, which directly indicates that Procida arose as a result of volcanic hooliganism. To this day, seven craters are visible on its coast. According to an oral local legend, Brodsky, although he dubbed this island a dull abbey outback, fell in love with Procida. The smallest and least known of the Neapolitan islands, it still miraculously preserves the peasant charm. The enchanted streets and stylish restaurants invite you to plunge into an atmosphere full of marine traditions.
Transition Procida - Ischia.
It's time to visit the largest and most picturesque island of the Gulf of Naples, which gained fame as a popular resort even in ancient Rome. It is not surprising that it is here that traces of almost every era are perfectly preserved. Ischia is an island of volcanic origin, on its territory three extinct volcanoes sleep comfortably - the giant Epomeo, his brother Trubotti and the smallest of them - Monte Vezzi. The famous Aragonese castle, in which for all the ages lived only the richest, most influential and noble people of his time, deserves special attention. Terrifying torture chambers, furniture, home decoration and other exhibits not only perfectly convey the atmosphere of bygone times, but also seem to inaudibly tell one of the old Italian fairy tales. It is also worth visiting the thermal springs, the fame of which is booming around the world.
Crossing Ischia - Amalfi.
Ciao, Ischia! We are heading for Amalfi! But first we look at the island of Capri, where we will drop anchor and swim properly, enjoying the beauty of the surrounding nature.
There is a special Italian romance in building cities on steep banks and slopes. Like colorful pebbles torn from a string of beads of some giantess goddess, charming houses are scattered at the very edge of the water. The city grows more vertically than horizontally, and resembles a bizarre interweaving of variegated stairs. The main pride of the inhabitants of the island is giant lemons, from which the locals prepare homemade limoncello and the most delicious lemon ice cream in the world. An ideal place to buy freshly caught shrimps at the local fish and market and look at some cute trifle as a keepsake in one of the souvenir shops.
Crossing Amalfi - Salerno.
The time has come to return to Salerno - very lively and so real. Thinking about Italy, this is exactly the picture that pops into my head: a city with many levels, where streets harmoniously coexist with large lanterns, tiny balconies, the smell of flowers is everywhere, and in the distance the sea merges with the mountains, and all this is surrounded by endless sky and rows of snow-white yachts. Here I want to open a bottle of cool Italian wine and, enjoying the sunset, slowly reflect on life, peering into starry eternity. By the way, Salerno is famous not only for the water supply of the 9th century, the Cathedral and the Areca fortress, but also for its pastries!
Salerno.
Today we have to say goodbye to our cozy yacht and take stock of our week-long voyage along the Gulf of Naples. You and I saw the very Italy from songs and old tales: charming with its slightly ragged baroque and chamber coziness. Here, in a colorful mountain range, like bird's nests, small houses seemingly inconspicuous at first sight creep into. Small cafes in the maze of narrow streets, cozy bays for swimming, breathtaking views. Lemon groves and tents with freshly squeezed juice are everywhere. A cocktail of mountain and sea air intoxicates and dizzy, and the waters of the Adriatic affectionate cat cling to his feet. Each person should have a place in which he dreams of returning one day. We hope we were able to give such a place to you!
